Abdul RahmanA common name through out the Muslim world, a name steeped in Islamic History, whose roots wind deeply into the eighth century. The Emir Abdul Rahman was a crucial leader in driving Islam into Europe until finally defeated at the Battle of Tours. Nearly thirteen centuries later the name is still revered and given to muslim children. This may possibly be one of the factors contributing to the utter disbelief and condemnation of Afgans toward a man named Abdul Rahman after his conversion to Christianity. The thirty one year old Abdul was arrested in February of 2006 for the act of turning away from Islam. During His trial the prosecution called him an infection that must be removed from the Muslim society. He must be hung. The prosecution also stated that since Islam is a toerate society Abdul would be given the opportunity to renounce the Christian conversion before his death. If not for the worlds condemnation of this trail and their intervention Mr. Rahman would be dead. Mr. Rahman is alive today after being given safe passage to Italy. Unfortunity this is the acception. On the streets of Amsterdam, Dutch film maker Theo Van Goug, was murdered by Mohammed Bouyeri after making a film critical of the Muslim faiths treatment of women. Upon his arrest Bouyeri Stated "I did what I did purely out of my beliefs" Praise Allah the enemies of Islam must die. |
